Thank you for visiting our website and another busy week for us at FoodAWARE CIC.

Doncaster Street Hub

FoodAWARE supporting Doncaster Street HubDoncaster Street Hub are a group of dedicated volunteers, working to support The Complex Lives team and other services to prevent begging on the streets of Doncaster.

They provide hot meals, basic essentials, toiletries, sanitary items, bedding and clothing to the town’s homeless and vulnerable. They aim is to create a friendly atmosphere where people can drop in for a hot meal, a chat, ask for information and directions to the correct services and reduce the need for begging.

On the 19th of October 50 of their friends joined them for a hot meal of pie, potatoes and beans, a cold sandwich, a sweet/pastry, a chocolate bar, crisps and a cold drink. Bags of food (tins, cereals, milk, coffee etc) were given out along with some toiletries, sleeping bags and warm clothing.

The team at Doncaster Street Hub do an amazing job, Kirsty Elliott, Jeanette Marsden, Jay Pashley, Alisha Pashley and Louise Holman for sorting out all the donations and bagging everything up, and Sean Key and Manny for helping to unload everything from the vans/cars and for tidying up!!

Jay Pashley and Kirsty Elliott did a wonderful job cooking the pies and Jeanette Marsden for cooking the potatoes. Jeanette and Kirsty Elliott also continued to work tirelessly making up all the drinks.

We work alongside Co-op Beckett Rd, Co-op Snaith, Co-op Bessacarr, Co-op Cantley Lane, Co-op Goodison Boulevard, Greggs Carr House Rd, Greggs Rossington, Greggs Lakeside, Serena Van Der Meulen-Taylor and The Hygiene Bank Doncaster with donations which makes all this possible.

Mexborough Foodbank

The Guardian filming at Mexborough Foodbank FoodAWARE CICHuge thanks to all of our hard working volunteers and supporters. On Friday, we delivered another 23 food parcels to local families in need across Mexborough, Denaby, Conisbrough & Swinton.

It was a great pleasure to welcome John from The Guardian who was filming our project and the support we are giving to people less fortunate.

The programme will air early 2021 and we will let you know when. There should also be some online articles promoting our work.

Was also great to see our good friend and financial supporter ‘Pilot Dave’ Harrison who also delivered some food parcels and will be volunteering with us moving forward.
