Absolutely fantastic stuff from the team at Aspen House. Thank you so much for your support of Food Aware CIC & Mexborough Foodbank.
They have smashed their target, and are now sitting at £1815.
Kerry Booth (OT) and Marc Moran (Nurse) are very passionate about supporting local food banks to help families who generally struggle. However due to the pandemic which has resulted in many people being furloughed and even worse, suffering the loss of their job, the struggle for families is even greater this year.
Kerry, Marc and the Team at Aspen House pushed themselves through various challenges in order to raise their target of £1500. All involved will be extremely grateful for any donations you can make towards their cause .
Challenges they completed:
A Virtual 3 Peak Challenge in a week: The girls at Aspen House will be pushing themselves to complete the 3 Peak Challenge on a staircase. Each flight of stairs is 15 steps, and only the steps going up will be counted.
Scafell Pike (6,180 steps, 412 flights of stairs)
Mount Snowdon (7,120 steps, 475 flights of stairs)
Ben Nevis (8,810 steps, 587 flights of stairs)
Aspen Houses’ Big Virtual Quiz: Invites will be sent out to other hospitals in a bid to be crowned Quiz Champions. A minimum donation of £50 sponsorship will be required from each hospital to participate. The quiz can be played out to service users/offices/teams.
24 hour cycle/sleep in challenge: Kerry and Marc will lead on a non-stop 24 hour cycle/sleep in challenge alongside individuals and staff at Aspen House.
Food Bank Donations: All staff at Aspen House are being encouraged to purchase at least one extra item a week when doing their weekly food shop, which they can donate towards a hamper of items for Food Aware.
Ken Wyatt – Swinton Lock Activity Centre
Supplies of foodstuffs & activity materials heading for Swinton Lock Activity Centre and even a few books for Look for a book Rotherham.
Swinton Lock Activity Centre is a Community Based Arts, Education and Activity Centre for all ages whereas Look for a Book Rotherham is to encourage children to explore the outdoors and become excited about reading. The aim is to find books hidden in the Rotherham area. They can either read it there or take it home to read.
Ken also took another car full of supplies taken to Swinton Lock Activity Centre from local residents us at Food Aware CIC. Also thanks to Frankie & Benny’s restaurants for the big box of crayons. These will go out in activity packs.
Thanks so much for this donation from MINDFest in the Community at the weekend!
Also, to an ‘anonymous’ donor from a local fab couple who have kindly donated their fuel allowance of £200 to purchase seasonal veg and festive goodies!
