Real Junk Food Project supporting FoodAWARE CICThe Real Junk Food Project

Huge thanks to our friends The Real Junk Food Project for latest donation – 3 pallets of surplus food to support our South Yorkshire community projects.

Looking forward to our continued partnership supporting our local communities through unprecedented times as we enter a second national lockdown just as winter is upon us.

The Real Junk Food Project is a collaborative effort between catering professionals and activists to bring about a radical change in our food system.

They plan to intercept perfectly edible food that would otherwise not make it to plate and serve it as meals in the café or distribute it through our food boutique.

It is estimated that 1.3 billion tons of food is wasted globally each year, this amounts to nearly 40% of global production, this occurs for a multitude of reasons that vary between regions. In the U.K studies have shown that we waste over 15 million tons of edible food annually due to stringent and confusing food safety legislation.

New ID Cards at FoodAWARE CIC Courtesy of Castlemount Ltd

New ID Cards at FoodAWARE CIC Courtesy of Castlemount LtdToday was a very exciting day at Food Aware CIC, we all got an id lanyard with our photo and job title on.

Something so small but so needed.

It has given us all us a real boost and feel of professionalism in our role as volunteers.

These will help us loads, most especially during the new lockdown we can easily identify ourselves as keyworkers, , ensuring we keep Food Aware fully operational throughout lockdown meeting the needs of our community members in crisis.

If you have a moment please pop along and give a like to Paul at Castlemount Ltd who was so very kind and made the process of ordering so easy. He also produced these free of charge no matter how much I offered to pay as a way of sponsorship and support of Food Aware.

He genuinely is the most lovely guy running a brilliant company producing a high quality item.

Please do consider ordering from him if you have any id card needs.

She also dropped off some toys donated by her parents Stephen and Julie Ward. These will be donated to children in the community in need.

In the coming weeks we will be further supporting the team here, but we are not going to tell you too much…’ll have to wait….for that is the Spirit of Christmas.

Spirit of Christmas is a registered charity that runs local, socially inclusive family Christmas parties and events.

Every child deserves to meet Father Christmas.
