FoodAWARE CIC supporting Doncaster HubAnother busy week started with us supporting the Doncaster Hub.

It was estimated around 35-40 of attended for a hot meal of pasties, potatoes and beans and everyone took away some cold food as well. Everyone left with a toiletry parcel (shower gel, soap, shampoo, body lotion, toothpaste and toothbrush etc).

Doncaster Street Hub like many other community groups relies on donations of food and other supplies so if you wish to help support them you can contact them by visiting their Facebook page – Doncaster Street Hub.

A huge thanks to Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire for fantastic thank you card praising our hard-working team for all they have done to support people/families less fortunate across Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster, Sheffield and the rest of South Yorkshire.

A true example is the fab team at Mexborough Foodbank who work so hard to help those less fortunate.

Rotherham Street Kitchen had 32 service users visit for a quality hot meal. The meat again was provided by Boulton Family Butchers. The menu was Katsu chicken curry, sweet and sour chicken and boiled rice. Lapitza Rawmarsh provided 4 pizzas. Greggs Parkgate provided savouries, cakes and sandwiches.

It is our pleasure to continue, along with others to support this project.

Big thanks to Amy Johnson and Lidl for the continuing support to FoodAWARE and the local communityOnce again huge thanks to Lidl GB for ongoing support with surplus & donated food.‬

‪Here is our team collecting from their Bentley store in Doncaster, South Yorkshire with lots of supplies distributed to Mexborough Foodbank & other community projects supporting local families in need.‬

We are very pleased to confirm that our team will now be collecting from Bentley store on a regular basis each week & we are hugely grateful to store manager Amy Johnson (former manager of Mexborough store) for her ongoing support of our grassroots community support across Doncaster & surrounding areas.

Other local Lidl stores will also be collected from on a regular basis moving forward as demand for food parcels continues to increase especially in local deprived communities.

We were once again able to support The Hygiene Bank Doncaster in delivering its donated supplies to all its charity partners.

On the 30th of July, Mel Howram made this special appeal for help

Do you work in a food warehouse? Or know someone who does?

Can you help Food Aware CIC with stock?

Our warehouse only has about 2 weeks of food left in it. As much as small boxes from individuals are appreciated it’s not even a drop in the ocean of how much food we give out….around 5 tonnes weekly for around 3000 people!!

We need access to regular donations of surplus food in pallet loads as below;

We can arrange collection free of any cost to the company donating

We will accept product past best before date

We will accept part pallets, damages, mislabeled, ANY PROBLEM STOCK OF ANY TYPE.

We can accept Ambient, Chilled, Frozen, Hygiene and household products.

Literally ANYTHING you know of problem stock WE WILL FIND IT A HOME.

Please please help us, but as I say this is about reaching Manufacturers, Logistics Companies and LARGER scale organisations.

As much as I would love to accept donations from individuals I just do not have the time or resources to organise Collection in the amounts we need.

If you have smaller amounts please send them to your local foods banks and churches who are in desperate need right now.

Many thanks this week to Debbie Frost & the team at New York Bakery for sorting 149 boxes of bagels today for the South Yorkshire food support network.

It was our honour to once again help Cambeth Community Project C.I.C with a donation of food, helping Doncasters most vulnerable.

Onto next week and another busy week helping support South Yorkshires many various projects.
