Our fab team of volunteers have been working extremely hard this week collecting lots of surplus food from local supermarkets & suppliers and redistributing it to our community projects across South Yorkshire
Well done guys…awesome work…especially in this very cold weather!
Rotherham Street Kitchen
On a very cold snowy night at Rotherham Steet Kitchen, thanks to the volunteers, Mandy Eden, Lawrence Anderton, Gayle Ibbertson and new volunteer Andrew Madin (whose chilli went down a storm) who were able to supply hot food and drinks.
On the menu were
- Sweet and sour chicken
- Chilli and rice
- Spaghetti bolognas
- Onion bhajis
- Pies sandwichs
Amazing work by an amazing team
Huge thanks to Lidl GB stores in Mexborough, Rotherham & Doncaster for several pallets collected from local stores for redistribution to our South Yorkshire community projects via neighbourly partnership!
Across just 4 weeks in November 2020 Lidl GB & its customers donated 300,000 food items to local food banks through the #TacklingHunger campaign!
Bentley Area Community Library
A huge pleasure to be supporting Angela & the fab team at Bentley Community Library Food Bank who are working tirelessly supporting their community each week with food parcels.
Here’s Mark H and Alan from our team who deliver lots of supplies to Bentley each week.
Thank you so much for your ‘Thank You’ card….you are all very welcome!
Keep up the great work.
This ongoing support is much needed as our team of volunteers continue to provide an increasing number of food parcels across Mexborough, Denaby, Conisbrough & the Dearne Valley.
You can donate to support our cause by tipping the drivers or buying additional tins/packets of food as you use their excellent taxi service to/from local supermarkets and they will pass on at the next donation drop-off.
Huge thanks to Donney European Ltd for another fantastic donation of various ambient foods from noodles to lion bars and tins of ham to chocolate goodies! Plenty of pea and bacon flavoured instant noodles…as we mean PLENTY as you can see from the photos!
Also to Lee Kirk for dropping off another fab donation of food and toiletries courtesy of the generous residents on Melton View Estate.
And more donations of household / white goods collected by our team – another electric cooker, very large TV, new single mattress, hoover, kettle & toaster etc which will be great for some of our local families.
Huge thanks to all of our volunteers for their tireless efforts each week helping those less fortunate in such difficult times!
Please donate via our donation box at Lidl GB in Mexborough if you can.
Donations can also be dropped off at The Willows Early Years Centre on Wath Road on Thursdays 11am-12pm or Fridays 10am-1pm. Or at Mex Family Hub next door Mon-Fri 8.30am-4.30pm.
If you have a substantial donation and are unable to drop it off then please call us on 01709 717186 & we at Food Aware CIC will collect asap.
