Once more our team were extremely busy this week but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Doreen Turning 101 Years Young
Back in January, we have learned of an elderly lady who was turning 101 Mid-February.
Unfortunately, like many members of our elderly community, she was unable to spend the day with her loved ones due to Covid restrictions.
Working together with our lovely friends at Gift of the People our aim is to get at least 101 birthday cards to her in time for the big day.
We wanted to make sure that this brilliant milestone birthday didn’t pass unnoticed and this lovely lady felt the love of our community.
Thank you to everyone who was kind enough to send us a card and everyone who donated towards this!
Doreen was quite overwhelmed by the response!
Together Alex, from Gift of the People and Mel our Food Aware CIC Operations Manager have worked hard behind the scenes to make the magic happen.
They have organised the cake, cookie, a full buffet and gift bags for every resident in the home in a little over two weeks!! Quite an achievement in itself. Not forgetting all the cards.
They also gathered with a loudspeaker and sang happy birthday to Doreen alongside her family in the care home car park, keeping a safe distance from Doreen while also being able to give her a wave.
Special thanks must go to Kristel at Fish to go and her lovely customer Rachel Hinchcliffe who donated £25 for a beautiful dressed crab and fish platter.
This is Doreen’s absolute favourite so was hugely appreciated and was a particular highlight for Doreen.
We’d also like to thank the staff at the care home for working so closely with us to make this happen! You guys are incredible and we absolutely love the WW2 outfits you bought especially for today.
Thank you to all members of our community once again, for helping us achieve something extraordinary!
It has been an absolute joy to partner with the team at Gift of the People to bring this dream to life.
