Ken Wyatt – Swinton Lock Activity Centre
Lots of Christmas bags donated by a resident & a box of 30+ brand new bathroom bags.
These will make really nice gift packs to go out. Thanks to Food Aware CIC & our generous community.
Great to see our lovely friends at Sleepsafe Selby as we dropped off Christmas gifts and drinks for Christmas dinner with them yesterday.
Sleepsafe Selby provide a safety net to reduce rough sleeping but also a stepping stone to encourage people into long term tenancies. They aim to do this by befriending individuals who stay with them and working positively with local services such as Selby District Council, North Yorkshire Police, Horizons, Probation and other local charities to encourage a network of support.
We hope all the guests past and present have an absolutely wonderful time.
Merry Christmas and Best Wishes to you all for the New Year from all of us at Food Aware.
Spirit of Christmas
Spirit of Christmas is a registered charity that runs local, socially inclusive family Christmas parties and events because every child deserves to meet Father Christmas.
Ronnie Diane and the rest of the team provide toys to families in need all year but at Christmas time they are running a very special experience from Abbott’s Staithes in Selby.
If you are a Selby based family in need, please speak to your child’s school who can arrange a referral for support.
Yasemin at Maltby Academy 6th Form
She came to Donna Bennet (Mrs B) who is the Admin/Pastoral Officer at Maltby Academy in November and said ‘miss, I want to do something to help people at Christmas’ – this is all going to be going to Maltby food bank to give those not as fortunate as us as little bit better Christmas.
Mrs B has now said this is now on their agenda to do this every year!
Yasemin was also given the Local Hero Award from Community Champion Bramley Morrisons.
Cygnet Health Care
Huge thanks to Cygnet Health Care Aspens, Manvers Road, Mexborough for this fab fundraising support which is very much appreciated and will enable us to support many more local people/families less fortunate over the festive period and long winter ahead.
Cygnet Health Care was established in 1988 and provides behavioural health services to individuals and the NHS within the UK.
Cygnet Health Care is one of the UK’s largest independent providers of inpatient mental health treatment.
Since Cygnet Health Care was founded in 1988, they have built a business providing high value integrated services to individuals suffering from a wide range of psychiatric illnesses and disabilities. Over the years we have developed a wide range of services to address the specific needs of service users creating pathways to allow individuals to move towards their recovery.
The team at Cygnet Aspen House who, supported by other Cygnet services in the East Midlands and Yorkshire, have raised over £1700 for us at Food Aware CIC.
A great team effort!
Chris Williams and Mexborough Foodbank
