FoodAWARE Community Kitchen

We would like to introduce the members of the food aware community kitchen that serve and cook the meals that you see on the posts each week pictures below.

Many thanks to lisa@lotties Tickhill for baking cakes, scones, sausage rolls, quiche, also Ian for baking and cooking chilli and rice we appreciate the work you put into this it’s a great help.

It was great to welcome Lizzie, Sarah & Sharon to our Hellaby warehouse a few weeks ago to meet volunteers & observe the work we do.

Eat Better Spend Less

 
Hugely proud of our fab ‘Eat Better Spend Less’ cooking education programme which runs from Mexborough Community Hub each Thursday!
 
We have a fab in-house chef, Naeela, who creates fresh tasty dishes each week utilising some of the masses of surplus food we receive each week from our donors!
 
And also a fantastic social environment where our volunteers & budding cooks get to know each other and bounce off ideas and creations!

Annual Get Together

 
Another fab night with the fab FA & Mexborough Foodbank team who work so hard all year round helping people less fortunate & Feeding People Not Landfill!
 
Last night was our annual get together in Doncaster for a slap-up meal at Relish Doncaster, plenty of drinks and of course observing our youngest volunteer Charles Prouten (92) mount the bike outside The Queen Crafthouse & Kitchen and a dance on the dance floor with our Tracy Burnett this time!

Big thks Lidl GB RDC in Doncaster for another recent fab donation – 18 pallets of surplus food into our Hellaby base Rotherham now mostly redistributed to South Yorkshire projects & partners supporting vulnerable & less fortunate across local deprived communities in very challenging times as the cost of living soars.
