Lots of service users appreciated a hot meal as the weather gets colder a big thank you to the team for their continued support for people in need, we will also be doing a Christmas dinner the last Monday before Christmas.

Doncaster & District Trades Council

Huge thank you to Ann-Louise Bayley and Doncaster & District Trades Council for organising such a fantastic event and to everyone who has donated to help us to support people less fortunate in these extremely challenging times and Cost of Living Crisis!

We are absolutely humbled to receive this much needed support and our team of volunteers will continue our essential grassroots support across Doncaster and South Yorkshire.

An amazing £2600 was raised which is an unbelievable amount.

Active Fusion

We currently work alongside Active Fusion who provide Mexborough based Fusion Youth sessions by supplying their coaches with snacks and drinks to give to the young people who engage with their session.

During the cost-of-living crisis we are seeing more young people and their families struggling and we have seen this through our community sessions.

If you think you or your company could support us in some capacity, please contact us!

If you could help or support in any way, please contact:

Mexborough Foodbank

Very busy sessions continue as demand for food parcels continues as the Cost of Living Crisis bites for so many. And the worst is still to come by a long shot as the long cold winter is yet to come.

Apologies for another very long post!

We’ve not posted our weekly output for a while so here’s a summary of our last six sessions –

  • Fri 21st Oct – 31 food parcels
  • Fri 28th Oct – 22
  • Fri 4th Nov – 23
  • Fri 11th Nov – 21
  • Fri 18th Nov – 25
  • Fri 25th Nov – 28

Total – 150 food parcels in just six weeks!

A number provided via our collaborative project with Doncaster Citizen Advice Bureau in Mexborough.

We continue to see a consistent need for food parcels provided in Denaby / Conisbrough areas.

Big thanks as always to the fab Doncaster Council Communities South Area Team Doncaster who are absolute stars helping us to deliver a number of food parcels across the local area each week.

Please note that we DO NOT accept self-referrals and must have a referral from a local partner.

In order to receive a food parcel, we need a referral emailing to – from your key worker or one of our community partners e.g. St Leger Homes, DMBC, Citizens Advice, Aspire, Credit Union etc.

If you don’t have a key worker, then please contact Citizens Advice Doncaster Borough on 01709 572402 to make an appointment to assist current financial situation.

Thanks as always to our community partners Mexborough Christian Community Church and all of our hard working volunteers – Chaz, Bev, Steve, Alan, Mark, Chris, Gail, Jean, ‘Barnsley Ian’, Andy the Parademic, Matt Fearn & not forgetting the legendary Tommy Joyce MBE! We could not provide this essential service without their tireless efforts.

Chaz, Gail, Mark & Tommy go to the Food Aware CIC warehouse in Hellaby each Wed to make up food parcels ready for each Friday session where the surplus fruit, veg, bread etc is added before deliveries are made.

Huge thanks to Kev Turner of High Melton for his ongoing donations of £50 in Oct & Nov. And to Jim Oldfield for his regular bags of food donations.

Also to Lesley & Paul who dropped off a lovely donation last weekend. And to another ‘Paul’ who donates lots of staple foods to us on a regular basis.

And attached are photos of some duvets etc donated by MCCC friend Rathan’s mum, Narinjan Kour Singh, after the sad passing of his Dad (via Steve/Bev Hunt).

Also to the fab Chris Cliff & team at Co-op in Swinton who support us with surplus food each week. Alongside Aldi UK & Lidl Mexborough

Always great to see Karen Bailey from Scallywags Playgroup with her daughter Sarah (dressed in Children in Need attire on Fri 18th Nov!) and her granddaughter Bobbi who we support with surplus refreshments each Friday.

Please continue to donate via our donation box at Lidl GB in Mexborough if you can. Plus, new toys for Christmas for local children in the adjacent donation box in Lidl (coordinated by our friends Neighbourly)

Thank you to everyone who has donated and continues to support our grassroots cause as the Cost-of-Living Crisis continues to bite for so many local families.

For larger donations please call 01709 717186 and we can arrange collection at a convenient time via our community partner Food Aware CIC
