It’s been a very busy time recently here at Food Aware, even more so than usual, as we continue our work to support those less fortunate.
This month, Mel went to visit our lovely friends at The Clothing Bank who were in need of laundry detergent, cleaning products, and other essentials to help them keep up their fab work.We were able to help with this so quickly stepped into action, but more importantly our relationship saw them jump into action for us, by preparing two clothing donation bundles for two children who are currently receiving support via one of our food banks.
Excellent examples of community partnerships and working for the benefit of those less fortunate. Which has seen two young children nice and warm in lovely new coats, fab new shoes and trainers, along with the usual fashions and PJ’s etc that the clothing bank offer.
These clothing donations are vital in what is a highly challenging time financially for so very many people.
It is a pleasure to be able to help to make sure that they have the necessary products to ensure all the clothing donations are clean and ready for their new homes.
FoodAWARE Kitchen
Many thanks to the volunteers for cooking some great food tonight we also had a donation of £20 by a member of the public that will go towards sugar tea and coffee and hot chocolate which we go though a large quantity monthly.A big thank you to Mila for organising donations from Nat West Bank Manvers for food parcels.

Visiting Community Partners Across Selby
Ops Director Mel had a busy day today across Selby visiting our community partners in the North.Here we can see a vital donation of #surplus foods donated by Poundland , Lidl GB KP Nuts ABP Food Group and The Real Yorkshire Pudding Co. Being loaded up and delivered to Selby Community Fridge .
The cost of living crisis has seen the level of need on the community fridge increase by a quarter, yet donations at store level continue to drop as in the majority we all have to tighten our belts.
As a key partner to Food Aware in the North it is a pleasure to be able to work with the Up For Yorkshire team and support their commitment to the people of Selby in their time of need. We look forward to our ongoing close working relationship to ensure that we maintain their stock levels so we can continue to ensure we keep feeding bellies not bins.
Sleepsafe Selby
It’s been a huge pleasure to share the growth of Sleepsafe Selby Registered charity no 1189035 over the years and see how their guests thrive from the love, support and investment that the Sleepsafe team provide.There’s been some fantastic cooking happening recently here and as always we want to keep supporting that and making sure there’s lots of lovely meals for all guests, current and rehomed.
So Mel dropped by with a large donation of minced beef provided by ABP Food Group and some gorgeous beef dripping Yorkies provided by The Real Yorkshire Pudding Co.
We are looking forward to seeing the culinary delights from the kitchen shared in the weeks ahead.
